Real Dudes,
Here’s the link to the message I preached a few weeks ago at Faith Fellowship
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KV_lNGOjik.
And I’ll start sending my notes to you in parts as well over the next week or two.
Practicing His Presence,
Nate

Part 1 / Introduction:
We’re continuing in our study of the Psalms of Ascent.
I’ve titled this morning's message “Resting in the Lord Begins with Being Real.”

Our main text is Psalm 131.
Psalm 131 (CSB)
A Childlike Spirit
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 Lord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.
I do not get involved with things
too great or too wondrous for me.
2 Instead, I have calmed and quieted my soul
like a weaned child with its mother;
my soul is like a weaned child.
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
both now and forever.

It’s been said that “
Rest in the Lord is a frequently used expression in the Bible. When the psalmist says, ‘Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him’ (Psalm 37:7, NKJV), he’s not talking about physical rest that involves taking a break from activity, relaxing, napping, or stopping to gather strength to continue or complete some physical undertaking. Rest in the Lord refers to a spiritual rest from confusion, worry, stress, useless human effort, and a break from all internal, external, mortal, and spiritual enemies. The Hebrew word translated as ‘rest’ means ‘to be at peace,’ ‘to be still,’ ‘to be quiet or calm.’” https://www.gotquestions.org/rest-in-the-Lord.html

While I was back home in Iowa last week, I heard the following expression on a couple different occasions, one from my daughter, and another from my nephew, “Time to BeReal”…“BeReal is the simplest photo sharing app…” https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bereal-your-friends-for-real/id1459645446
This “app notifies users at random times each day to share unfiltered snapshots of what they're doing during a two-minute window.” https://abc7.com/bereal-be-real-app-what-is-social-media/12109439/
It’s amazing how the world comes to a complete stop when it’s time to BeReal.

Next time we’ll take a look at a BeReal moment that David shared with the Lord.
