Our vision for our community began in 2015 and is based on this Proverb.
Without oxen a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest.

In 2015, Nate Smith and Skip Lowe, of Grinnell, IA, started a men's ministry called Ox Strong, with the specific goal of strengthening men's relationships with the Lord.  

Six Truths We Hold To (contributed by Cody Hinton)

1) God - There is one God who exists eternally in three persons; Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
He is sovereign over all things and all things were created by Him.

2) Scripture - The Holy Scriptures are God's direct revelation to His people. They are complexity inerrant and infallible in their original writings.
They are inspired by God write by men, and perfect for teaching, instructing, correcting, and reproof. 

3) Creation - All things were created by God, and were created perfect. Man is the pinnacle of God's creation, and were created special,
in the Imago Dei (image of God), and distinct from the rest of creation.  

4) Sin - As the representative of all creation Adams sin permeated all of creation marring it and separating it from its creator. 

5) Jesus - Jesus is the only Son of God. He is the only source of truth, life; and hope. Through His perfect life, undeserved death, and physical resurrection He has payed for all sins, appeased the wrath of God, and provided redemption and restoration of all creation. 

6) Salvation - And yes salvation would fit in the Jesus section. All of these that I stated I consider salvation issues. There are elements within them that are not closed-fisted issues. For instance, yes God created all things but a person does not have to be a young earth creationist to be saved. 

What We Are Not...

  • Not a social/country club, and not a place of meeting to promote your business/sales, etc. No membership required.
  • Not a hierarchy. God loves everyone equally. We're just responsible  for what we each do individually with the truth and word of God.
  • Not a place to debate/attack.
  • Not a place to prove and point out ones differences.
  • No puffed up mindsets…“I’m better, or my church is better than yours…” “I’m more right than you…”
  • No hidden agendas.
  • Not a place to play the role of the Holy Spirit.
  • Not a place to judge others.
  • Not a place to hide...feel free to share your life and struggles in confidence.
  • Not a place to gather gossip...that would destroy the integrity of this ministry.
  • Not a Church building. Not a para-church. 
  • Not ecumenical as some define that term...we never put anyone in a position to compromise their beliefs or practices (we’re not put together as a group to promote any church practices, or traditions, but rather here to support church programs and spur and promote growth). Not a place to feel as though you have to compromise any aspect of your faith/belief system. Take the good and leave the bad.
  • Not in it to make a name for ourselves.
  • Not a suppressing group. All creativity within ones gifts and talents leads to something useful in furthering the Gospel/Kingdom. Each unique person and ministry within Ox Strong is designed to accomplish just that.
  • Not a place for perfect people.
