Real Dudes,
Recently, as a Chaplain for our local Fire Department, I observed some training at the department. All of the firefighters were going through training for Project Lifesaver. To briefly fill you in, “Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies, and is strategically designed for ‘at risk’ individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition.” https://projectlifesaver.org/ This training seemed similar to Geocaching. Here’s a link that shares more about what Geocaching is if you’re unfamiliar with it or interested how it relates to this devotional https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/geocaching/ As I was observing this Project Lifesaver training I couldn’t help but think about all the lost / unsaved / aimlessly wandering people in this world. And do we have first responding Christians who are willing to go seek them out? Luke 19:10 reads as follows (NIV), “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” For our Fire Fighters and First Responders, the tuner needed to be on the exact signal in order to locate the lost. The Lord is our perfect tuner. When we’re in tune with Him, then He WILL lead us directly to who we need to witness to. If not the Lord, then what device are you using in attempts to seek out the lost to share the gospel with them? Are you trusting in your own instincts or are you tapping into the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and speak through you? Or does it even matter to you that some are lost and dying without any knowledge of the Lord? When God commands us to GO…how are we responding? Indifferent, careless, emotionless, with no urgency? Or obediently, and motivated? People's souls are at stake and these very people are treasures in the eyes of the Lord…what are they to you? Do you feel as though they too deserve safety, rescuing, eternal life with Him? He created us with a purpose…He came to earth for a purpose…does your life reflect a similar purpose? Practicing His Presence, Nate Related Passages from God’s Word: Mark 16:15-16 (ESV) 15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Mark 2:17 (NLT) When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” James 4:14 (NLT) How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. Jude 1:23 (NLT) Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives. Isaiah 53:6 (NLT) All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.
