Looking for the opportunity to ___________. As followers-of-Christ!

​So, what can we as followers of Christ be Looking for an opportunity to do today?
Be watchful --- For what?

• 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) Be alert...!
  • Be watchful for Satan’s involvement…refuse the bait he’s dangling in front of you. Resort to God’s word, just like Christ did when Satan tried to tempt Him.
• Matthew 24:42 (NIV) Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
• 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NKJV) Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 

Be devoted ---

• 2 Peter 1:3-7 (NIV) His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

Be covetous ---

• Consider the virtues we just read about in 2 Peter 1…goodness, etc.
• 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
• Want these virtues. Want more grace, knowledge and wisdom. Make every effort to get them…all for His glory.

 
What are you watching for, devoting yourself to, coveting?
You might think, “I’m not a Judas…I would never look for an opportunity to take the bait from Satan.”
Let me remind us…

• 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
• 1 Kings 8:38 (NKJV) …each one knows the plague of his own heart…
  • the disease, affliction, trouble, cancer of his own heart.
• So, what are you looking for the opportunity to ______________? Remember, that blank will look different for each of us. Spend some time asking the Lord how He'd have you resolve it.
