You Never Steer Me Wrong

Real Dudes,
Patrick Mayberry sings the song Lead on Good Shepherd. As I was listening to it the other day there was a phrase that stood out to me. In the chorus a part of the lyrics read as follows…
You’ve walked me through the valley

But You never steered me wrong
So lead on good shepherd
Lead on

“You never steered me wrong” is the phrase that resonated with me the most. There have been moments in my life where I’ve been in the valley. Some of those moments of being in the valley were caused by others, and other moments were self-inflicted. What I am thankful for is that in both cases God never left my side…Immanuel was with me through it all. AND while He was leading me – He never steered me in the wrong direction.
How about you in your valley experiences? Do you recognize and celebrate God steering you where you ought to go, or do you blame Him for the direction you’re steering yourself to? It is true that He never steers us wrong, so are you allowing the Good Shepherd to lead you?
Practicing His Presence,
Nate

Psalm 23 (CSB)
The Good Shepherd

A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have what I need.
2 He lets me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He renews my life;
he leads me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
as long as I live.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (CSB) The Lord is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
